MASON CITY, IA – Colon cancer patients in north Iowa and southern Minnesota can enroll in a new clinical trial at a local cancer center.
A polyp prevention study is available at the Mercy Cancer Center in Mason City for people who recently have been treated for colon cancer.
This National Cancer Institute study evaluates the cholesterol drug, Crestor as a treatment to reduce the risk of colon cancer.
The medication is a statin, a class of drugs that lower cholesterol.
More than 400 North American medical centers, including Mercy Cancer Center, are enrolling patients in this study.
