Not only did Mason City’s Kendall Cornick make a splash, it was more like a cannon ball from the high dive, in her freshman year. Mohawk’s Cornick was a huge surprise for the Mohawks last season, she says she even surpassed her own expectations. - Kendall finished 7th in state, in the 400 meter dash. She also is a part of the Mohawks 4 by 4 team that already broke a school record this season. The sophomore says, shes excited to see how much improvement, she makes in year two, on the varsity level. “I really gave it all for my freshman year, and it was good to get a feel, of like the other competition, what I had to do to be great, you know, I mean getting 7th was good, but i obviously want to do better.” According to Jim Lee, “She has high goals, shes a hard worker, you know a real hard working kid, and a kid like that, that works that hard, shes going to have a heck of a year this year.” Believe it or not, the track over at Mason City High School this afternoon had no snow, and both the boys and girls teams, were practicing outside.
