North Iowa Woman’s Retrial Put On Hold

A trial that held the fate of a North Iowa woman’s life was suspended on Tuesday.

Angela Johnson’s retrial was set to begin on June 3 later this year, but Judge Mark W. Bennett ordered the suspension of the trial indefinitely.

Johnson was convicted in the 1993 drug-related killings of three adults and two children from North Iowa.

She was sentenced to death in 2005 but a judge threw out that death sentence a little over a year ago after finding flaws with Johnson’s original hearing.
