Voluntary Meat Recall

KIMT News 3 –  Belgrade Meats and Pastures a Plenty has issued a voluntary recall on uncured smoked breakfast links, uncured wieners, uncured smoked brat links, and pepper sticks after routine product sampling by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) discovered some of the products to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes bacteria.

 

There are no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of the product.

 

The products being recalled include approximately 40 pounds uncured smoked breakfast links, Lot code 318130 and100 pounds uncured wieners, Lot code 318130. The wieners are served at Nate Dog Mobile Food Cart.  Both of these products are distributed under Pastures a Plenty label.

 

Out of an abundance of caution we are also recalling approximately 20 pounds of pepper sticks sold out of the Belgrade Meat Center, Lot code 318130.  Under the Pastures a Plenty label approximately 40 pounds Uncured smoked breakfast links, and approximately 40 pounds uncured wieners both with lot code 311130, all recalled packages are marked with a white label and the lot code on it.

 

We are cooperating with MDA’s investigation.  Consumers may return packages to the retail store Belgrade Meat Center 408 Washburn Ave, Belgrade MN 56312 or Pastures a Plenty 4075 & 4077 110th Ave NE, Kerkhoven MN 56252.

 

Consumption of food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis, an uncommon but potentially serious disease marked by fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea.  Healthy people rarely contract listeriosis, but it can sometimes cause fatal infections in infants, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems.  Listeriosis can also lead to miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
