A look at bills not meeting deadline

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Bills that failed to meet a deadline in the Iowa Legislature this week include:

— Radon Testing: Would require schools to test for the cancer-causing gas and install systems to expel it from buildings.

— Cyberbullying: Effort to deal with cyberbullying by updating state guidelines for school districts to include bullying that occurs outside school on social media sites.

— Private Gun Permits: Would make public information on gun permits confidential and toughen penalties for purchases in which someone who can legally buy a gun purchases a weapon for someone who isn’t allowed to have one.

— Suicide Prevention Training: Would require all school employees to undergo training to recognize signs students are suffering from trauma or contemplating suicide.

— Eminent Domain: Would make it harder for state or local officials to seize property to develop lakes.
