AUSTIN, MN — Some local art students are putting their best work on display today in their big gallery debut.

The young emerging artists from Ellis Middle School are happy to get their time in the limelight as a gallery displaying all of their art opens in Austin today.

Students got to choose the medium they created their pieces in and the best received awards, though as one instructor puts it, its all about the experience and not the awards.

“Obviously as an art teacher, I got to see some of the stuff that they make in class and their parents get to see it when they take it home. But this gives the students an opportunity to see what its like as a working artist to have their art work in a gallery for the community to see it as well. So it kind of inspires them,” said Linsey Olesiak, Art Teacher at Ellis Middle School.

The Austin Area Art Center Galleru will now feature art from grades six through eight, throughout the entire month of April as well as classes and
