MOTORCYCLE CRASH ON I-35

FREEBORN CO., Minn. — The condition of a man seriously injured in a motorcycle crash Monday is improving.

According to a spokesperson with St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, James Grunewald, of Austin, is now listed in serious condition. He was in critical condition Monday evening.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the 62-year-old Grunewald was riding a 2001 Honda on Interstate 35 south of Albert Lea when he lost control and went into the median. The southbound lanes were closed down for a time as responders tended to Grunewald, who was airlifted to St. Mary’s with what are described as “serious injuries.” Troopers say he was not wearing a helmet at the time.
