BRITT, IA — Grocery store aisles are packed with food and often we don’t give a second thought to where that food comes from, but one group is looking to change that.

The Ag Fair in Britt brought students from all around the county to learn about farming and the work that goes into the food supply.

So while students are taking the opportunity to experience it first hand, one organizer says this can be a great lesson for all.

“It’s important for their families, for their parents, for everybody to know that agriculture plays a big part in what goes on around us and the farmers take care of their land and their animals and their doing whats right to raise food for all of us,” said Brenda Adams, Ag Fair Coordinator.

Agriculture plays a large role in providing for all communities, but as Adams puts it, Iowa has its own unique twist.

“One in every six people in the state has a job connected to agriculture and so its important for them to know that. That it’s not just the farmers, it’s the bankers, it’s the seed salesman, it’s the vets. Theres a lot of jobs involved in agriculture and its good for these kids to be thinking about that,” said Adams.

While it is an annual event, Brenda says similar events take place year round at neighboring counties with a similar message.
