MASON CITY, Iowa – These days the word “superfood” gets used a lot, and research is showing a certain snack that deserves that title.
Walnuts are a great source of heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids which are important in preventing heart disease.
But the superfood can also provide benefits if you’re watching your weight.
“They’re packed with those heart healthy fats that we do need even though we’re watching our calories. But it’s also has protein and fiber and all three of those are going to help with staying power so if you have it as a snack you’re not going to be hungry later,” says Dietician Amy Kirchhoff.
