AUSTIN, MN – According to court documents, 40-year-old Sheryl Finley allegedly stalked Alexa Ray Joel (daughter of singer/song-writer Billy Joel) across the Internet. In January, Finley pleaded not guilty to charges of felony stalking for electronic messages sent by false impersonation and gross misdemeanor stalking for repeated messages. Finley was accused of harassing and sending threatening messages to Joel using the alias Rick Steenfield. The victim hired an Internet security firm to look into the matter and they were able to locate the messages as originating from the Austin Public Library and Riverland Community College (also in Austin). According to the court complaint, Finley admitted to sending the messages and when she was told to discontinue she proceeded to send an additional message to the victim. Her next court appearance is scheduled for May 3rd.
