Austin, MN — On prom day some kids spend the afternoon getting their hair done or even putting the finishing touches on their outfit.

But that wasn’t the case in Austin Saturday where a handful of kids got their day started with a bang.
Teams from north Iowa and southern Minnesota were heating up the range at the Viking Invitational. More than 100 kids competed, some for the first time this season. Organizers say they’re pleased with the turn out, especially considering that for most schools it was prom night.
