MASON CITY – The NIACC women’s golf team won the NIACC Invitational at the Mason City Country Club with a 345 on Monday.

Meet medalist Mikayla Smith shot a season-best 40-38 – 78 to lead the Lady Trojans to their second straight tournament title. The Lady Trojans also won the Iowa Central Invitational on April 15.

Smith’s  previous best this season was an 83 on April 12 at the AIB Invitational.

DMACC was second with a 345.

NIACC sophomore Sarah Steinauer was the runner-up medalist with a career-best 41-39 – 80. Sophomore Alexandria Eckenrod was fifth with a 41-44 – 85.

Steinauer’s previous career best was an 81 twice (Sept. 6, 2012 at the DMACC Invitational and April 15 at the Iowa Central Invitational).

Kirkwood won the men’s team title with a 294. NIACC was second with a season-best 299.

NIACC’s previous season best was a 308 at the season-opening DMACC Invitational on April 4.

Kirkwood’s Mitch Jacobi was the meet medalist with a 34-36 – 70.

NIACC was led by sophomore Jacob Urdahl with a season-best 37-36 -73. Urdahl’s previous low round this spring was a 77 at the Central College Shootout on April 6.

Next in line for the Trojans were sophomore Dalton Olson with a 35-39 – 74 and freshman Levi Fink with a 36-39 – 75.

The NIACC women return to action Friday and Saturday at the Region XI tournament at the Otter Creek Golf Course in Ankeny. The NIACC men are scheduled to play at the Iowa Lakes Invitational on Sunday.
