AUSTIN, MN — Its National Arbor Day and one local organization is helping spread the word about trees.
The Mower County Soil and Water Conservation District is spending their day distributing trees to folks throughout the county.
It’s part of their “Tree Sales Program”, which sells trees and shrubs to farmers and community members at a reasonable cost.
While the world celebrates trees only one day a year, there are other ways to help them throughout the year.
“We have a lot of people who either do windbreaks or want to plant a few trees in their yard,” Watershed Technician James Fett said. “All of these trees we sell are very good for wildlife.”
More than 13,000 trees were sold during the program this year.
And he adds they will be taking tree orders again in December.
