MASON CITY, IA – The board of a local community college is voting to approve an interim president, as their current president prepares to move for a new job. Former NIACC President David Buettner will fill in as president on an interim basis. Current NIACC President Debra Derr is leaving her position after her contract expires on June 30th. Monday night, Buettner was approved as an interim President, pending the contract agreement. The board is also going to review proposals from three different search firms to help find a new President. Meanwhile, John Rowe was sworn in as the newest board member. He is completing the two years left on Robert Davis’ term. Davis passed away earlier this year. The board will talk more about the bids from the search firms at their next meeting on May 16th.
