On Monday, May 6th the Mason City School Board will vote on a proposed athletic budget that includes 13 assistant coaches losing their jobs.
The 13 positions, will save MCHS $36,000.

Nine of the assistant coaches are coming at the high school level (Baseball, Softball, Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Boys Track, Girls Track, Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, and Football.)
The other four are coming from the 8th grade athletic program.
If this budget is passed, Mason City will have 49 paid coaches on staff for the 2013-14 school year.
