AUSTIN, MN — It’s out with the old and in with the new for Gerard Academy.
Crews broke ground on a patch of land that used to hold the facility’s recreation center and will now hold a new dormitory.
The building will hold 16 beds and will be more than seven thousand square feet.
And will increase the number of beds on campus.
“We we’re full consistently and turning away a lot of kids, so we wanted to meet the needs of our customers,” Executive Director Brent Henry. “Secondly, along with that, we’re starting a brand new program, the short-term residential program.”
Officials originally planned on the dorms being done by the middle of August, but now expect it to take longer.
