From summer-like temps to snow storm

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Mother Nature’s summer-like tease is giving way to a rare May snow storm in Minnesota.

The National Weather Service says a strong surge of colder air will produce moderate to heavy snow over parts of the state Wednesday afternoon through Thursday. A winter storm warning is in effect from northwestern Wisconsin through the Twin Cities to Mankato to Blue Earth. Accumulations of 6 to 9 inches are expected in the region.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for 3 to 6 inches of snow along a line from Mora to Buffalo to Redwood Falls in Minnesota and from Cornell to Eau Claire to Durand in Wisconsin.

The recent days of summer-like temperatures will return. Forecasters predict they will head back to the upper 60s by Monday.
