ALBERT LEA, MN –While the calendar says May, it doesn’t exactly feel like it outside.
It was a dark gloomy day across our area as some prepare for a winter storm heading our way.
For some who have lived in the area many years, it is something they didn’t think they would see especially in May.
“Anything I’ve seen in my lifetime that I would ever see snow in may again,” Devin Yost said. “This time last year as a farmer, we had corn that was four or five inches tall already by this time last year. Corn up even. May first is a little bit of a shocker.”
The last time we had snow accumulation on the ground in May really depends on where you live.
In Albert Lea and Austin it was 1954, Rochester 1989, and Mason City had snow on the ground in May back in 1966.
