MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A faculty committee at the University of Minnesota is recommending the average grade in each academic program be posted online.
The Faculty Consultative Committee began a wide-ranging discussion about grade inflation and putting grades in context in 2011. The talks evolved into the current recommendation, which is that average grades by major be made available online.
FCC Chairwoman Sally Kohlstedt says students will be able to show potential employers if their grades are high compared to other students in their major.
The Minnesota Daily (http://bit.ly/ZpCV7r ) says the recommendation will move forward pending approval from Bob McMaster, vice provost and dean of undergraduate education.
