Iowa Network Services buys Urbandale company

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — West Des Moines-based Iowa Network Services has purchased an Urbandale employment services company.

The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/12qR1Gg) that Merit Resources will provide personnel and other employment services to the 122 telecommunication companies that own Iowa Network Services. Terms of the deal have not been disclosed. It was completed this week.

INS chief executive Ron Keller says INS has been looking for businesses “outside of our core communications services that enhance business productivity, mitigate risk and improve performance.”

Merit Resources chief executive Joel Duncan says it has about 400 clients that represent about 11,000 employees in 40 states. He says additional clients from INS companies will create a larger pool for purchasing health benefits, technology and other services.
