Mason City, IA – It was quite a surprise for some Mason City folks, when they showed up to work and discovered a mother goose up to her neck in snow.
The workers have been watching the goose since last month, and have become quite protective of her since she laid her first egg.
They can see her from their office window.
And even though she’s nearly covered in snow, this mother is worried about her top priority: the four eggs she must protect.
Roger Pauly says she is one tough goose.
“Oh no, she won’t get up today. She’ll wait till some of the snow melts off, she’s just keeping her eggs warm,” said Pauly.
The mother goose laid her first egg on April 23rd.
It usually takes about 30 days for a goose egg to hatch.
