Casino company bankrolling Warren County campaign

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The West Des Moines-based casino company that wants to operate a casino in Norwalk has contributed more than $260,000 to the Warren County gambling campaign.

The Des Moines Register reports (http://dmreg.co/108xN7A) that state campaign finance filings on Thursday show Wild Rose Entertainment is the only contributor to the group backing the referendum.

The group No Casino Norwalk badly trails in the fundraising. The filing shows it has raised a little less than $16,000.

Warren County Citizens for Good Jobs and Wild Rose have proposed building a casino, hotel, events center and bowling alley in northwest Norwalk, near Iowa Highways 5 and 28.

If a majority of Warren County voters back the gambling measure on Tuesday, the casino plan would go to state regulators for their approval.
