MASON CITY, IA – 34-year-old Gina Splitt of Algona plead guilty to two counts of prohibited acts (obtaining or attempting to obtain hydrocodone prescription by fraud/forgery), one count of insurance fraud, one count of possession of oxycodone and one count of possession of hydrocodone. Today, Splitt was sentenced in Cerro Gordo County District Court and the judge ordered her to 15 years of probation and to pay over $2,700 in fines. She also has to serve up to 4 days in jail. In July and September of 2012, Splitt passed phony prescriptions at two Mason City pharmacies and later admitted to forging doctors’ signatures. Splitt could have faced 27 years in prison for these charges.
