ROSEVILLE, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Supreme Court is hearing an open records case involving a major reconstruction project for St. Louis County schools.
Johnson Controls, of Milwaukee, is overseeing the $79 million project and hired a subcontractor, Architectural Resources, of Hibbing. The companies have refused to release their business contract to a newspaper, The Timberjay. Johnson Controls argued the contract contains trade secrets.
Timberjay editor Marshall Helmberger tells Minnesota Public Radio News (http://bit.ly/10gzFQA ) examining the contract would help the school district determine whether it could recover any of the project’s cost overruns. The newspaper won the case before the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Johnson Controls asked the high court to take the case.
Monday’s arguments are being held before 600 students at Roseville High School.
