AUSTIN, MN — A southern Minnesota community is hoping thousands of dollars will  create more tourism.

Vision 2020 organizers and their groups will be working with a firm to create a new identity campaign for the city of Austin.

The city council preliminary approved giving 10,000 dollars for the project.

Organizers say the plan is geared towards bringing more companies and people to the community.

“This is an investment,” Vision 2020 Director Laura Helle said. “We wouldn’t be going through the process if we didn’t think in the end, we would attract more visitors, more residences, more business owners, which only builds and improves the community.”

They will be interviewing four firms for the project.

She tells us the last time the city underwent a public relations campaign was more than 20 years ago.
