MASON CITY, IA — Area high school students are getting a glimpse into the world of manufacturing at North Iowa Community College.
It’s part of the colleges annual “Design Build Day”
Students work on Design Build Projects, such as sheds or playhouses, for their college course work.
They are then judged by area architects and contractors.
NIACC leaders tell us the event helps get kids thinking about a career in the trade field.
“What we’re doing is trying to give the hands on experience and real life experience and encourage students to think of the trades as a career option,” Building Trade Instructor Gregg Hemlmich said. “The job availability will be there.”
He adds an event, like today’s, is a great way to get the word out about jobs in the field.
