Man arrested after officer sprayed in St. Cloud

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (AP) — A St. Cloud man is under arrest after police say he tried to carjack at least one vehicle, assaulted a man at a motel and sprayed the arresting officer with a fire extinguisher.

Police say the 44-year-old man told a cabbie to get out of a cab around 6 a.m. Wednesday. When the cabbie refused, the man approached another vehicle, pulled on the locked door handle and yelled at the driver.

The man then went to a motel and began fighting with a guest. Police say the suspect took a fire extinguisher, approached another man and demanded his keys.

When an officer tried to intervene, the suspect sprayed the officer in the face with the fire extinguisher. The St. Cloud Times ( ) reports the officer was treated for minor injuries.
