AUSTIN, MN — Plans were made two years ago for a new southern Minnesota school and now it is almost a reality.
The I.J. Holton Intermediate School in Austin is set to open with its first set of fifth and sixth graders in August.
The new school will have a “STEAM” focus, which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts and math.
Leaders say, so far, it is all going according to plan
“When I came in four months ago I thought, oh my goodness, how will this ever be ready in July? But every week when I do come in I’m amazed at how much does get completed. We have over 100 workers in here every day doing their respective jobs and putting things together,” said Holton Principal Jean McDermott.
She said they hope to have everything done by the middle of July.
