CLARION, IA – Day two of deliberations has come and gone, with no decision from the jury in an area murder trial.

Over the past week, the men and women heard varying explanations for why Noah Crooks supposedly shot his mother last march at their Osage home.

The fate of young Crooks is in the hands of jurors at this hour. However, we don’t know exactly what is going through the minds of the men and women considering a verdict in the case.

On Wednesday jurors expressed their concerns to the judge.

They are worried about not reaching an agreement, becoming what’s known as a ‘hung jury’.

Lawyers say the case would be considered a mistrial.

If that would happen, it would then up to the prosecution to determine whether they want to retry the case.

It could mean starting a new trial from scratch and with that will come new jurors, calling back witnesses and fresh opening statements and closing arguments.

At this point, it’s hard to say what will happen.

Until then, the teenager and all those involved will wait for the potentially life-changing decision

Count on KIMT News 3 for the latest, as we watch for a verdict in the trial.
