HAMPTON, IA-A change could be coming in Hampton.
Mayor Shawn Dietz tells us they have reached a deal with Franklin County to possibly move the dispatch command center to the law enforcement center, which is a couple blocks away.
The dispatch center currently handles all the county’s calls.
The mayor says the benefit of the move could be things like improved services and technology.
“Some of our thins are becoming outdated very soon and the time to replace those is going to be in the next year or two and we feel this would be a good time to move those things. Also security wise for the dispatchers, it’s a more secure location,” said Mayor Shawn Dietz.
The move is not quite set in stone. It still needs approval from the Hampton City Council, Franklin County Supervisors, and the emergency management commission.
