Mason City council votes to cut mayor, council pay

MASON CITY, Iowa (AP) — The Mason City mayor and council members will be paid less next year.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports ( ) that the council voted Tuesday night to follow through on discussions during budget negotiations and trim the city leaders’ pay.

The mayor’s pay drops to $10,700 from $13,200 for the year. The council members’ pay falls to $4,900 from $7,400.

The cuts take effect Jan. 1 and last for the calendar year.
