Northwood, IA – It’s been a long process in Northwood when it comes to getting police protection in place for the town.

But the Worth County Sheriff’s Office, says it’s worth the wait.

The city is working with the county, to have deputies patrol the town, and four deputies will be hired to do the job, once the local police department is dissolved.

The wordings of the contracts, for that arrangement, were finished up this week.

Worth County Sheriff Jay Langenbau, says he would like to see things completely finalized by next week.

“We’ve had interviews for some deputies positions so there are a few couple good candidates and so obviously since the contracts not signed we haven’t hired anyone but we are ready to hire as soon as the contracts signed,” said Langenbau.

Sheriff Langenbau says so far, the arrangement to have deputies patrol in Northwood has been going well.
