Austin, MN – The Fire Chief in Austin is stepping down, and leaving his current position for a new one in Spring, Texas.  Austin Mayor Tom Stiehm is confirming the news about Mickey Healey.  Healey submitted his letter of resignation today, and will be done on June 5th.    He’s been in his current position since July of 2010.  Mayor Stiehm says he’s happy with how things are at the fire department, and the news is a real surprise, but Chief Healey will be missed.  The Mayor also says they will seriously consider internal candidates to take over the position.  He is not sure when that search will begin.
