MASON CITY, IA – May has given much cause for concern when it comes to weather, but for riders, this is an opportunity they couldn’t pass up.

It’s been a very unpredictable spring season, with weather backtracking into winter, but with clear roads, and warm conditions, riders say this is the perfect opportunity to get back on their bikes.

“We had that long winter, then it started warming up, then we finally got into riding again. Then we got blessed with that 10 inches of snow which really set everyone back; kind of brought spirits back down. Now that we’re finally warming back up, it seems to be a lot better moral in the air,” said Kyle Meyer of Mason City.

Kyle has waited months for the opportunity and says he’s finally glad to be back on his bike.

“It’s definitely a good experience. None that you could really describe. Just being out there and seeing everyone else is a good feeling,” said Meyer.

It’s a feeling area businesses are hoping brings these customers back to the lots.

“A lot of them were looking at units but weren’t quite ready to buy because weather hasn’t changed quite yet, but their still coming in and looking. As soon as they got the first nice two days then people really start coming in,” said Curt Clausen, Sales Manager for Mason City Honda.

Although sales have not dropped dramatically, they do say that weather has definitely played a role in sales being about a month behind.

A loss they’re hoping to make up for in the coming months.

“Instead of a big rush like what you’d get when the weather gets like this, it’s kind of more of a steady pace. People know spring is coming sooner or later. It’s was just a little late start but still pretty busy,” said Clausen.
