MASON CITY, IA – Day 3 of a North Iowa murder trial picked up today.
It’s compelling video that had the jury glued to the screen. It shows Aaron Harris being questioned by police and investigating officers.
In the video Harris said “What I do remember is having my hands around her throat.”
Harris admits multiple times to killing Sarah. Officer Terrance Prochaska took the stand today and says Harris physically showed him the method used in the murder.
Mason City Police Officer, Terrance Prochaska said, “He put his them on top of each other and pressed directly on my esophagus and pushed. That’s how he explained he did it and during that demonstration, he stated that her tongue cam out of her mouth and blood came out.”
The video is hard to see, so there was also an in-court demonstration.
In the video, Harris can’t say exactly what drove him to kill Sarah in that moment, but that knew he’d done something terrible.
In that video he said, “I’d say I was possessed. Possessed by some evil force and I felt out of control.”
A state Medical Examiner also took the stand talking about the injuries on Sarah’s body.
State Medical Examiner, Dr. Dennis Klein said, “There were a number of bruises around the lower neck and upper chest that would indicate that there was force present around the neck.”
Dr. Klein says those internal and external autopsy findings are consistent with the claimed cause and manner of death.
“If you have enough force to cause bleeding in those structures it’s enough force to collapse the veins and probably the arteries, which ultimately is going to cause death from strangulation.”
