Mason City, IA – If you’re looking to fill up your gas tank, you may want to do it quick.
Across the Midwest gas prices are skyrocketing and experts say they won’t be going down any time soon.
Right now in Minnesota gas is already at four dollars a gallon.
Now those prices are heading south, into our area.
According to AAA, maintenance is being done at two large refineries in Chicago, which makes prices staying high until it’s finished.
Chris Redfern, from Mason City, says he’s not quite ready for the change.
“I’m definitely going to try to bike a lot more, ride the motorcycle to get better gas mileage for sure because four dollars a gallon in my pickup is not easy on my pocket,” said Redfern.
AAA says the earliest we may see gas prices go down is mid June and the latest would be July 4th.
