Fighting a Growing Problem

ALBERT LEA, MN — It’s becoming a problem that animal shelters across the county are experiencing.

Shelters, like the Humane Society in Freeborn County, are seeing an over population of cats and dogs.

There are things you can do to help fight this growing problem.

Animal experts say having your animals spayed and neutered is important, not only for controlling the pet population, but for keeping your pet healthy.

“The health benefits overall, for your cat and your dog, you reduce the risk of breast cancer, you reduce the risk of urinary cancer, there is many health benefits that go along with it,” Shelter Manager Christa Stieler said.

She adds programs, like MN SNAP, are a great and affordable way to spay and neuter your pets.
