ALBERT LEA, MN – After weeks of renovation, “The Rock” is now open.

That’s the Youth for Christ group’s facility in Albert Lea.

Organizers held an open house today to give folks a chance to see the upgrades.

Coordinators say a focus of the remodel is to fix water and roof damage, and while they were able to discuss those concerns, they also made sure to add some new features.

“Through some discussion, we decided to make this room downstairs into an art room. So kids are actually going down there and they’ve created some of the paintings that we have so far on our walls in this back area,” said Greg Gudal, Executive Director of the South Central Minnesota Youth for Christ.

Gudal says he can’t be more proud of the donors and community involvement that helped fund the project.

As for all the art, he says he’s amazed at what students have been able to come up with and he hopes these resources can help them hone their talents.

They also stress the importance of having kids take responsibility for the property as well.

“Learning responsibility and work ethic. Kids help us with the organization as well in terms of up keep of the facility and helping to run the facility through a lot of different ways,” said Gudal.
