MASON CITY, IA-After a long but productive session..Iowa lawmakers are heading home.
The senate wrapped up their session very early Thursday morning, and the house finished up this afternoon.
Lawmakers compromised on a variety of issues, passing legislation on property tax and education reform, as well as an expansion of low-income health care that uses federal money.
State representative Linda Upmeyer and state senator Amanda Ragan were key players in that compromise.
State Sen. Ragan said, “So at the end of the day we think we have something that maybe won’t please everybody but we believe it offers access to Iowans that would not have had health care coverage otherwise.”
Ragan believes the big items that will be addressed next year include earned income tax credit and more on health care providers.
