KIMT NEWS 3 — After years of debate, leaders of the Boy Scouts of America have decided to allow openly gay boys take part.
They are still upholding the ban on gay adults being leaders, however, but their battle is far from over.
Many liberal scout leaders and gay-rights groups say they will continue to press for adult inclusion as well, but conservatives are upset with the length it has already gone.
Many from our area also have mixed reactions.
“I actually think that it was pressure, financial, supportive I’m thinking. I think it was more financing than anything that was the pressure there,” said Ray Cech of Myrtle.
She said she does not think it will be long before they will lift the ban on gay leaders as well.
