IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) – Investigators and volunteers have expanded their search for a missing Iowa girl.
They’re combing fields and woods for signs of 15-year-old Kathlynn Shepard. The search area is 10 miles north and northwest of the rural Dayton property where suspect Michael Klunder hanged himself.
They believe Klunder may have driven in that area after he kidnapped Kathlynn and her 12-year-old friend on Monday.
The younger girl escaped. Shepard’s blood has been found on the ground of a hog building and on the tailgate of Klunder’s truck.
Investigators also are reviewing Klunder’s cellphone records to try to track his movements after the abduction. And they’ve been talking to people who may have seen his truck.
