To capture their seventh state title Saturday, the Clear Lake boys golf team not only had to hang on to their three shot lead after day one, but they had to do it while playing through some sloppy conditions.
In fact it was so nasty out the start was delayed two and a half hours.
The Lions eventually did take the course in Ames but were 13 strokes off of Friday’s mark, giving them a two-day total of 653.
Clear Lake would end up finishing third. Creston-Orient Macksburg was the winner.
Individually, sophomore Dane Waldron finished tied for second. He shot an 80 on Saturday.
Nice finish by sophomore Tommy Shick as well, he tied for sixth.
