KIMT News 3-Whether you love her or you hate her, chances are you’re familiar with Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann.
Now, the Tea Party favorite, who ran for Republican Presidential Nomination last year, is making a big announcement. Bachmann is announcing that she will not run for a 5th term in Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District.
The decision comes on the heels of ethical inquiries into her 2012 Presidential campaign fundraising activities. Political Analyst Dr. Eric Shoars says the recent scandal likely influenced her choice.
“She wants to be able to get that scandal put to rest to whatever conclusion. She wants to give the party enough time to find a viable candidate to hold onto the seat in next years election,” said Dr. Shoars.
While bachmann hasn’t yet said what her future plans are, Dr. Shoars does have some predicitions.
He said we could see her run against Mark Dayton for the Minnesota Governor’s seat. Or, Shoars said she may go a different route and focus on the speaking circuit, similar to what Sarah Palin has done.
Bachmann said her decision not to run in 2014 was not influenced by concerns about being re-elected. Republicans are expecting a long line of potential candidates vying to take her spot.
