Police investigate thefts at Des Moines cemeteries

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Police are investigating the theft of American flags and grave markers for military personnel at two Des Moines cemeteries.

Des Moines police say the thefts occurred sometime between Thursday and Saturday at the Des Moines Masonic Cemetery and Glendale Cemetery. Officials believe the thefts occurred during overnight hours.

Police estimate the total value of the reported stolen items is more than $2,300.

Police say tips that lead to an arrest in the case may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
