Cedar Falls woman saved from water, then ticketed

CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (AP) — Firefighters rescued and then ticketed a Cedar Falls woman whose pickup truck stalled in a flooded street.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (http://bit.ly/10Fj73X ) the woman was driving through a flooded street Friday morning that she thought her pickup could manage.

It couldn’t.

Lt. Kurt Schreiber says the pickup’s engine stalled about half-way through and she called 911 on her cellphone as the water reached her window.

Cedar Falls Fire Rescue reached her by boat in less than a half hour and brought her to dry land.

Her pickup was towed from the water and she was ticketed for driving past a road-closed sign.
