ROCHESTER, MN — Those with the Rochester Downtown Alliance are getting ready for the first “Thursdays on first and 3rd.”
They stuffed 5,000 promotional bags Friday for the first event coming up on Thursday, June 6. 15,000 to 25,000 people visit about 120 vendors who fill 1st avenue from the Peace Plaza to 3rd Street Northwest.
Despite its popularity, changes are still being made to the event.
“We have a new area this year called arts and culture live that’ll be on historic 3rd street. It’s going to be all hands-on arts that you can experience the arts as well as just visualizing and seeing them,” said Caitlin Stephenson, Marketing and Events Coordinator for the Rochester Downtown Alliance.
She said those at the Downtown Alliance are just happy the weather is finally starting to shape up.
“We do it rain or shine but the storms are when we would cancel it and we were really concerned. We had an event yesterday that we had to cancel, Nurses Night Out, but we’re really in touch with emergency weather and the meteorologists so we’re always trying to make sure everyone’s safe out there,” Stephenson said.
The events run from 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. every Thursday until the end of August, except July 4. For more information on what bands will be performing and more visit downtownrochestermn.com.
