DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Iowa Department of Public Health is offering free help during June to people trying to stop smoking.
The agency will provide nicotine replacement patches and gum to Iowa smokers who try to stop smoking by using Quitline Iowa, which offers tobacco cessation coaching by phone and the Internet.
Agency director Mariannette Miller-Meeks says in a news release that data suggests most smokers want to quit. She says the state is able to offer help through Quitline for the first time in years because of “smart, efficient budgeting.”
