Iowa sea wall angler rescued from the Mississippi

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A landscape worker has helped save a fisherman who fell into the Mississippi River at Davenport.

The Quad-City Times reports (http://bit.ly/17v4n9Z ) that the angler tumbled off the sea wall into the river near Oneida Landing around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Davenport Fire Capt. Joe Smith says the landscape worker was toiling nearby and heard the fisherman’s cries.

Smith says the landscape worker got the fisherman a strap to hold onto until fire and police officers could help him out of the water. Smith says the water was 6 to 8 feet deep.
