Ladies First: FLOTUS heckled by protester

(LIN) — She’s known to many for her style and upbeat attitude, but first lady Michelle Obama is quick to admit she doesn’t take hecklers well.

At a private Democratic National Convention fundraiser June 4, Obama threatened to leave after she was interrupted during a speech.

Although cameras weren’t allowed inside, a pool reporter said an attendee began shouting in support of gay rights during the first lady’s speech, and Obama became distracted from her remarks, saying, “One of the things I don’t do well is this.”

In this way, the first lady differs from her husband, who has been known to encourage even put a cuffed hand to his ear to hear what audience hecklers have to say.

The pool reporter said the first lady told the crowd she would leave if the woman continued to shout in protest, and told the crowd, “You all decide. You have one choice.”

Almost on cue, the crowd reportedly started shouting for Obama to stay at the podium and finish her remarks.

The protester was escorted out of the event.
