MASON CITY, IA – According to a spokesperson at Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa, the victim who was airlifted after Wednesday night’s stabbing, Benny Montgomery, is now in fair condition.

NORTHWOOD, IA – Authorities are releasing the names of those injured in Wednesday night’s stabbing in Northwood.  28-year-old Benny Montgomery was stabbed and 26-year-old Valerie Merrideth was injured.  Montgomery was hospitalized right away, and Merrideth initially refused treatment, but stopped by the hospital later for treatment for her cuts.

 

NORTHWOOD, IA – A North Iowa man is in custody this morning following a stabbing incident in Northwood.

Around 9:00PM last night, Worth County Sheriff’s responded to a call of a fight in progress on the 600 block of 7th St. North in the town of Northwood.

Upon arrival, they found a man sitting on the curb with stab wounds. He was flown to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa by Mercy Air Lift for treatment.

His condition has not yet been released.

Authorities have arrested 26-year-old Donald Monte Baker of Northwood.

He is charged with felony assault.
